Premanufactured Rigid Detector Loop
Premanufactured Rigid Detector Loop
Vehicle intersection detector loop
Structure
- Manufactured with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) conduit measuring 12.7 or 19 mm (1/2 or 3/4 in.) in diameter
- Forms a square or rectangular parallelogram (dimensions as per specifications)
- Manufactured from a single piece with ends connected by a T fitting
- Conduit resistant to solvents, alkaline substances, mineral acids and other petroleum-based products
Wiring
- RWU-90-X-LINK type 14 AWG gauge single-conductor cable inserted in the conduit
- Cable circling the loop 3, 4 or 5 times (depending on specifications) and includes two 14 tr/m twisted input wires along its entire length
- No splices
- Negative polarity clearly identified at the end of the counter-clockwise wire (if the loop is installed upside down [top of the T fitting pointing downward], the positive polarity is identified)
Watertightness
- Interior of the conduit filled by injection with a dual low-viscosity polyurethane waterproofing compound (type SAE600L)
- Fills the entire volume of the loop (no air pockets)
- Becomes solid while maintaining its flexibility below -45°C and above +145°C
Electrical characteristics
- Total inductance for a 1.8 x 1.8 m loop with a 20-m input wire: 5 to 35 µH per 5-m section (according to specifications)
- Minimum electrical insulation: 100,000 MΩ at 1,000 VDC
- Maximum resistivity: 1.25 Ω
