Case Study: Pie-IX Project
Client: Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité Durable (MTMD)
Product: Walk-in Type Variable Message Sign (VMS)
Year: 2025
Challenge
The MTMD needed to address a critical section of Highway Pie-IX, known for heavy congestion and frequent accidents.
To improve traffic flow and enhance road safety, the Ministry planned to install a variable message sign (VMS) above the roadway to provide real-time information to drivers.
Key challenges:
- Designing and installing a walk-in VMS mounted on a gantry structure
- Strict compliance with Canadian highway and bridge structure standards (CAN/CSA-S6)
- Providing complete technical documentation for Ministry approval
- Seamless integration with MTMD’s JamLogic traffic management system, in accordance with NTCIP protocols
