The question was no longer <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">if<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> congestion would worsen, but <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">when<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Choosing to Act Before Saturation<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rather than waiting for the situation to become critical, the City of Charlemagne made a strategic decision: to act proactively. With this in mind, the city mandated Orange Traffic to support them in the reflection, analysis, and implementation of a sustainable solution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the very beginning, our role went far beyond that of a simple technology integrator. We conducted the initial corridor assessment, analyzed the City\u2019s operational challenges, and helped structure a project aligned with both its current and future realities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Together, we built a clear vision: optimize this unique corridor before it becomes a permanent bottleneck.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Orange Traffic\u2019s Expertise at the Heart of the Project<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our team supported the City at every stage of the process. Concretely, Orange Traffic:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">conducted the initial situation analysis<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">structured the project with municipal teams<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ensured full project management<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">integrated new technology with existing equipment<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">carried out necessary hardware and software adaptations, including controller reprogramming<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">performed full field testing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">orchestrated the controlled deployment of the optimization system<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ensured system performance monitoring and continuous improvement adjustments<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is this field expertise, combined with a deep understanding of existing infrastructure, that enabled a smooth transition to a next-generation solution \u2014 without disrupting the City\u2019s daily operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>The NoTraffic Solution: Real-Time Intelligence<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To meet the identified needs, Orange Traffic recommended integrating the NoTraffic platform \u2014 an AI-powered traffic signal optimization solution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unlike traditional systems based on rigid schedules and fixed cycles, NoTraffic operates like a true urban brain. The platform continuously analyzes real-time traffic and adjusts signals down to the second based on actual demand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hybrid sensors (video and radar) were installed on every approach at the targeted intersections. They detect all users \u2014 cars, trucks, buses, pedestrians, and cyclists \u2014 analyzing their trajectories, speeds, and positions. Every movement becomes actionable data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Result:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> traffic lights no longer follow a clock.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They respond to real-world conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>The Playground<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Four strategic intersections were targeted along the corridor:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C\u00e9line-Dion \/ \u00cele-aux-Tr\u00e9sors<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C\u00e9line-Dion \/ Notre-Dame<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C\u00e9line-Dion \/ \u00c9mile-Despins<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Commerce \/ \u00c9mile-Despins<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These were precisely the locations where coordination was lacking, queues were growing, and citizen frustration was mounting.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>A Fast and Controlled Transformation<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In less than four months, Orange Traffic and the City:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">conducted analyses<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">facilitated strategic workshops<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ran simulations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">deployed the solution in a controlled manner<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rigorously measured before-and-after results<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nothing was improvised. Everything was measured, compared, and validated.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>When Numbers Tell a Story<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The results speak for themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An average reduction of <\/span><b>37% in delays<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across the entire corridor, considering all intersections and approaches. This time savings also translates into reduced greenhouse gas emissions, with <\/span><b>1,380 tonnes of CO\u2082 avoided annually<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 equivalent to nearly <\/span><b>300 vehicles removed from the road<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><b>over 63,000 trees planted<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During peak hours, certain approaches saw delays drop by more than <\/span><b>50%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in both the morning and evening. Queues diminished \u2014 even disappeared. The corridor regained its breath, encouraging calmer and safer driving.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, based on average vehicle occupancy and the economic value of time (as prescribed by mobility research institutes), these time savings can be translated into economic gains for the community. Here, this gain amounts to approximately <\/span><b>$18.4M<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, recoverable in productive hours or simply in improved quality of life.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>More Than a Project \u2014 A Model<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Charlemagne did not simply implement a technology.
